The program contains a series of modules that will introduce you to apply skills used in finance, accounting, and economics. This program focuses on applying knowledge, up-skilling, and mimic’s “on-the-job” training.

By the end of this program, you will know how to create financial statements, comprehend the investment and capital decisions needed in various scenarios, and understand how the economy can affect your strategy.

Learning Objectives:

Introduction to Financial Statements Analysis

  • Create and analyze balance sheets, income statements cash flow statements, and statements of retained earnings
  • Describe the role of footnotes and MD&A in the total analysis of financial statements
  • Calculate and apply financial ratios and models as a part of a complete analysis

Econ 101

  • Discuss money’s role in an economy
  • Describe the gold standard vs. fiat currency
  • Apply the prevailing economic theory to current economic situations
  • Explain the roles of the Federal Reserve and U.S. Treasury and how they differ
  • Compare and contrast monetary and fiscal policy

Corporate Finance in Action

  • Describe the process of starting a business from the inception of the idea to taking a company public
  • Identify various types of business structures
  • Explain how companies use their assets and liabilities

This Credential program is 10-weeks with 30 contact hours. To earn your badge of completion, you must achieve a minimum of 70% in 3 Key Performance areas: Attendance, Participation, and Activities/Assignments. The instructor will provide a specific rubric outlining the course syllabus in Key Performance areas.

INSTRUCTOR:

Ronnie Weiner is a Senior Lecturer for The Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University and is co-founder of the EdTech company, CICA (seek-a). Before starting in academia, Ronnie began his career as a bond trader and rose to manage over $4B in assets. Ronnie studied mathematics, political science, pre-law, and mathematical philosophy during his undergraduate years at Ohio University. He also received his Masters of Financial Economics at Ohio University. With his EdTech company, he and his business partner hope to spread the foundations of financial literacy to all.
