This course provides an overview of the key terms, processes, concepts, and methodologies used within Logistics and Supply Chain Management (SCM)

The program’s primary intent is to show the critical strategic and financial significance the supply chain has on a company’s ability to add customer value. Specific attention is paid to critical industry framework (which includes, but is not limited to, distribution, procurement, inventory, transportation, and information technology) and its impact on individual businesses, industry sectors, and the local, national, regional, and global economies. The relationship between SCM and other areas of the business and the importance of cost and trade-offs will be analyzed.

By the end of this program, you will be able to:

  • Describe the differences between Logistics and Supply Chain Management
  • Describe the critical areas of SCM and their relationship to each other and other areas of the business.
  • Define and explain key terms, processes, concepts, and methodologies used in SCM
  • Understand and explain the economic and strategic importance of the supply chain
  • Examine a supply chain and know where to look to increase efficiency, decrease complexity, and improve processes.

To earn your badge of completion, you must achieve a minimum of 70% in 3 Key Performance areas: Attendance, Participation, and Activities/Assignments. The instructor will provide a specific rubric outlining the course syllabus’s Key Performance areas.*

INSTRUCTOR:

Jeremy Banta is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel with over 30 years of experience in civilian and military logistics. He is a Professor of Supply Chain Management at Columbus State and co-founder of the Ohio Supply Chain Academic Network. He serves on multiple school and organizational boards, as well as being a member of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. His 20-year military career includes 15 years of full-time service in the Ohio National Guard and deployments to Iraq and Kuwait.
