Strengthen your ability to communicate clearly and persuasively across professional contexts
This program equips participants with the tools and confidence to write with clarity, purpose, and influence in professional settings. Through guided instruction, discussion, and hands-on writing practice, students will build their ability to communicate effectively across a variety of business contexts. The program culminates in a timed individual and group tabletop exercise simulating authentic workplace scenarios that demand clear, persuasive writing under pressure and with limited information.

Learning
Throughout the sessions, participants will learn and apply the fundamentals of effective business writing, developing the ability to define the purpose and desired outcomes of a communication, analyze audiences and choose the appropriate tone, voice, and medium, and organize ideas logically to achieve specific goals.
Participants will leave the program with a strong writing toolkit and practical experience producing high-impact communications that drive results, such as gaining project approval, securing stakeholder buy-in, or influencing key decisions.

Accelerator programs range from 4-12 hours of contact time. To earn your badge of completion, you must achieve a minimum of 75% in three Key Performance areas: Attendance, Participation, and Activities/Assignments. The instructor will provide a specific rubric outlining the Key Performance areas in the course syllabus.
Meet Your Instructor
Ian Bailey brings thirty years of business writing experience to his role as instructor from global communications and public relations leadership roles. Compelling business writing to engage a broad range of disparate audiences has been a critical element of his professional success.
Ian leads external affairs for Northwest Bank, a Nasdaq-listed full-service financial institution headquartered in Columbus. He also serves as adjunct faculty at University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications. He was previously Chief Communications Officer for nonprofit American Cancer Society, and prior to that served as Senior Vice President, Communications and Community at QVC Group, Inc. a Fortune 500, multi-brand retailer and Vice President, Head of Communications and Public Relations with global lifestyle brand company, Abercrombie & Fitch Co.
His communications agency experience includes leadership roles in the US and UK with global PR and communications consultancies Weber Shandwick, Hill & Knowlton, and FTI Consulting, and as co-founder and managing partner of an independent strategic communications consulting firm, Capital C Partners.
Ian holds a master’s degree in communications with a graduate certificate in crisis communications from Ohio University’s Scripps College of Communication, and a bachelor’s degree in German with management studies from King’s College, University of London
