Accelerator programs range from 4-12 hours of contact time. To earn your badge of completion, you must achieve a minimum of 70% in three Key Performance areas: Attendance, Participation, and Activities/Assignments. The instructor will provide a specific rubric outlining the Key Performance areas in the course syllabus.

Meet Your Instructors

Gabbie Durbin, RVT, is a graduate of The Ohio State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, and Columbus State Community College, where she earned an Associate degree in Veterinary Technology. She has a diverse background in small and mixed animal private practice, having worked as a veterinary technician, assistant, and receptionist. She also has a foundation in dance and theater—experience that uniquely supports her current role in veterinary education.

Gabbie currently serves as the Education Program Coordinator at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she co-leads the Communication and Collaboration course. This course focuses on the critical relationship between the doctor and the client, helping students develop the communication skills essential for effective, empathetic, and professional client interactions. She also serves on the college’s admissions committee, contributing her insight to help shape the next generation of veterinary professionals. In addition, Gabbie has been trained in international healthcare communication, further enhancing her ability to guide students in developing critical interpersonal and team-based skills. Gabbie’s interdisciplinary background enhances her work in fostering communication, empathy, and collaboration within healthcare education.


Dori Jenks is a dynamic communicator and award-winning educator known for her ability to foster connection, collaboration, and meaningful dialogue across diverse settings. With decades of experience teaching from K–12 to professional programs, she brings a unique blend of educational expertise and performing arts insight to her work. Currently leading the Communication and Collaboration Course at Ohio State’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Dori empowers future veterinarians to engage effectively with clients and colleagues. Her storytelling skills, empathy, and clarity make her a powerful voice in education and communication. She holds B.S.Ed and B.F.A. degrees from Ohio State and an M.F.A. from UC Irvine as a Jacob K. Javits Fellow.
