In this session, you’ll get hands-on practice evaluating different investment opportunities, understanding risk–return tradeoffs, making life-cycle investment decisions, and applying time value of money principles. You’ll build confidence in navigating the investment landscape and making informed choices that align with your goals.
By the end, you will be able to create your own investment plan, explain how to get started as an investor, differentiate between saving and investing, and describe the major risk factors that influence rates of return. You’ll also leave with practical tools, including a personal investment questionnaire, a review of retirement account options, and a clear understanding of various investment vehicles such as debt, equity, funds, and crypto.

Meet Your Instructor
Louann Cummings, Emeritus Professor at the University of Findlay and former Fulbright Scholar and Specialist. She was recently awarded the distinction of Emeritus professor. Louann received her BA in economics from Denison University, an MBA from the University of Toledo, and a Doctor of Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University and is a licensed CPA. She also worked for Root Learning, Inc. developing learning map technologies for companies such as Harley-Davidson, ATT Wireless, Motorola, UPS, and Whirlpool. Her passion is helping students and colleagues, regardless of their course of study, become exceptional global leaders who truly make a difference.
