Boards aren’t boring! Whether you are interested in a nonprofit career or simply want to volunteer for nonprofits, understanding board governance is key.  This program will explore governance essentials including roles, responsibilities, duties, and operations. There will be discussions on common governance myths and dive into power dynamics. Participants will engage in a scenario activity to grow in their understanding. And we hope to inspire your service as a nonprofit board member.

This program explores the essentials of nonprofit board governance and how you can make a meaningful impact through service. Participants will learn the core roles, responsibilities, and duties of board members, examine common governance myths, and discuss power dynamics that shape board effectiveness. Through interactive scenarios, students will build practical understanding and confidence to contribute thoughtfully as current or future nonprofit board members.

Meet Your Instructor
Kerri is the CEO of Mollard Consulting. She is a respected authority on nonprofit board governance, planning, and fundraising, and has served more than 170 clients since 2003 and thousands more through workshops. She has a BA from Ohio State, an MA from Indiana University, and a Nonprofit Board Consulting Certificate from BoardSource. In 2023, Kerri was recognized as an Outstanding Professional Fundraiser at the National Philanthropy Day, honored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Columbus Chapter.
