NotebookLM can transform the way you work with information. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to use Google's AI-powered research tool to organize sources, uncover insights, summarize complex material, and turn information into useful outputs. Participants will explore how NotebookLM can support studying and research, help prepare for interviews and job applications, strengthen resumes and cover letters, and even organize research for a new idea or venture. They’ll practice uploading and working with their own sources, asking better questions, identifying key themes, and creating summaries, study materials, and other resources.The workshop will also address responsible and ethical AI use, helping participants understand how to use NotebookLM as a tool to strengthen their own thinking rather than replace it.

This workshop will walk through real-world examples using NotebookLM for studying, job applications, and new ventures, showing how AI supports work from organizing sources and uncovering insights to summarizing material and creating useful outputs. Sheyla Finkelshteyn is an AI education specialist and PhD researcher in Organizational Communication who supports universities and organizations in implementing AI thoughtfully and effectively. Her work centers on building AI fluency across roles—faculty, staff, and even students—through hands-on training that bridges technical possibilities with communication, ethics, and institutional context. She brings expertise in qualitative research, learning design, and inclusive communication to help participants develop confidence, craft strong prompts, and apply AI to real tasks while understanding limitations, bias, and responsible use.
