Learn how to manage the message clearly and quickly when in crisis-mode. This program will guide you through steps you can take now so that you and your colleagues are positioned to communicate with the media and the public quickly and effectively when a crisis occurs.

Not only will you learn how to communicate quickly and effectively, you’ll also learn how to build and cultivate relationships with the media and social media influencers long before the crisis occurs. You’ll be able to recognize that you’re in a crisis, and how to extinguish with quick communication to minimize damage. Be prepared to communicate internally and externally, and anticipate what will come your way from the media and anyone with access to social media.

Meet Your Instructors
Alan Miller teaches journalism at Denison University. He served as executive editor of The Columbus Dispatch and regional editor for USA Today Network Ohio’s 21 newsrooms from 2015-2022. He started at The Dispatch as a reporter in 1984 and rose through the ranks to become managing editor in 2004 and editor in 2015. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from Ohio University.
Jenny Camper, co-owner of Lesic & Camper Communications, has more than 30 years of experience in strategic communications. Prior to agency work, Camper was communications manager for former Gov. George V. Voinovich and former State Treasurer J. Kenneth Blackwell. Camper earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from The Ohio State University.
